The Tech and Telecom Event Industry’s COVID-19 Tracker

As technology event specialists, we understand the concern and uncertainty around the cancellation of conferences due to the COVID-19 virus. To assist the technology and telecom community, we’ve set up our own COVID-19 Tracker, to be up-to-date with the latest news of cancellations and trade show confirmations.

As of June 12th, here are the following technology and telecom trade show and event cancellations, postponements, and events that are going virtual:

Statement is:”PLEASE NOTE: Accelerate NYC and LATAM have been cancelled. We look forward to seeing you in Silicon Valley.”

The statement:  “Over the past few weeks, we have been closely monitoring and evaluating the situation around COVID-19 to ensure we are taking the necessary measures to protect the health and well-being of Adobe Summit attendees.  As a result, we have made the difficult but important decision to make Adobe Summit 2020 an online event this year and to cancel the live event in Las Vegas.”

The statement: “As the international community works together to defeat the novel coronavirus, the United States, in consultation with ASEAN partners, has made the difficult decision to postpone the ASEAN leaders meeting previously scheduled for mid-March,” a senior administration official told NBC News. “The United States values our relationships with the nations of this critical region, and looks forward to future meetings.”

Statement is: “Due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus and the local  status  in Singapore (LINK) and given the fact that the welfare of our CC Members and Partners are very important for us, Carrier Community Management has decided to move the Asia 2020 GCCM and organise it in June 2021. Dates will be confirmed soon. Please contact our team for any further questions and assistance.”

Statement is: “As the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation has continued to evolve around the world, Atlassian has been actively assessing the risk and impact on a daily basis and monitoring guidance from public health authorities. In the end, because the health and safety of Atlassians, our customers, and partners are our highest priority, we’ve decided to suspend this year’s Summit in Las Vegas.”

Statement is:”The health and safety of our team members, customers, partners, and our communities is our top priority and responsibility as a company as we continue to monitor the potential impacts of COVID-19 (coronavirus). Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to deliver our favorite event of the year, Atmosphere 2020, via video, streaming, and small local events, rather than an in-person event in Las Vegas.”

The statement: “After careful consideration of the health and safety of our attendees and partners, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Black Hat Asia 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak. We are pleased to announce that Black Hat Asia 2020 will now take place September 29 – October 2 at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. We look forward to hosting the latest information security research at these new dates and will provide further updates on the event soon.”

Statement is:”CEDIA would like to express our concern for everyone impacted by the COVID-19 coronavirus. Based on our close monitoring of ongoing developments, recent reports from public health officials, and consultation with the government of British Columbia, CEDIA has decided to cancel the Vancouver Tech Summit scheduled for March 12, 2020, but does plan to reschedule for later in the year.”

Statement is:”Given the evolving health concerns from the coronavirus (COVID-19), we have decided to postpone CES Asia 2020.”

The statement: “Due to ongoing concerns about the current outbreak of Coronavirus, Cisco has made the difficult decision to cancel Cisco Live Melbourne scheduled for March 3-6, 2020 in Australia. Our customers, partners and employees are our top priority and we strongly believe this is the right decision given the current circumstances. Our thoughts are with those directly impacted by this situation.”

Statement is: “Due to public health concerns related to the coronavirus outbreak, we saw no alternative but to cancel CloudFest 2020. The health and safety of our attendees, partners, presenters, and colleagues is of the utmost importance to us. We were forced to consider the growing risk of exposure, especially in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, where our event is located.”

Statement is:”Collision from Home brings together the people and companies redefining the global tech industry. Think of it like working from home: join the event online from wherever you are in the world.”

Statement is: “For the first time in its 50-year history San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC), the organizers behind the annual pop culture celebration, announced today with deep regret that there will be no Comic-Con in 2020. The event will instead return to the San Diego Convention Center from July 22-25, 2021.”

Statement is: “COMPUTEX stakeholders, including international exhibitors, visitors and media, may not be able to join the show consequently. Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taipei Computer Association (TCA), the organizers of COMPUTEX, therefore decided to reschedule COMPUTEX to 2021.”

Statement is: “The ‘DEF CON is canceled’ meme has crossed over into real life, courtesy of COVID-19. In early March we had hopes that things would be stable by August. That is no longer realistic. Currently there’s no way to gather everyone together and keep them safe, so The Dark Tangent has decided to cancel the in-person event.”

Statement is: “In light of global precautions being announced to combat the coronavirus outbreak, we’ve decided to postpone DEF CON China 2.0. We regret inconveniencing any of you. Know that we are committed to holding the event once it’s safe to do so.”

Statement is:”Because nothing is more important than the health and safety of our team members, customers, partners and suppliers, we have decided to make Dell Technologies World 2020 a virtual event. This decision was not made lightly. As we learn more about the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, we know this is the right thing to do, given the global nature of Dell Technologies World.”

Statement is: “Chicago Sept. 22, 2020, New York Sept. 30, 2020, Washington D.C. Coming Soon.”

The statement: “March 18–19, 2020. We are turning Domopalooza into a 100% online event.”

Statement is:”After careful consultation with our member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry – our fans, our employees, our exhibitors, and our longtime E3 partners – we have made the difficult decision to cancel E3 2020, scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles.”

The statement: “In light of the growing concerns around the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Ellucian has made the decision to cancel Ellucian Live 2020 to protect the health and well-being of our customers, partners and employees. We will replace the in-person event with a virtual experience that will be free to all registered Ellucian Live 2020 attendees. We will be issuing full registration fee refunds. More information can be found on the FAQ page. We look forward to seeing everyone online beginning in April and appreciate your understanding.”

The statement: MIT Technology Review and Koelnmesse, the co-organisers of EmTech Asia, have postponed Asia’s leading conference on emerging technologies until 4-5 August 2020.  
In view of the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) situation in Singapore now having a higher public health impact, co-organisers MIT Technology Review and Koelnmesse – after careful deliberation with relevant stakeholders – have made the joint decision to postpone EmTech Asia to 4 – 5 August 2020.”

Statement is:”After consultation with our stakeholders over the last few days, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Enterprise Connect Orlando 2020.  It has become clear that for a large majority of the Enterprise Connect community, the travel restrictions and uncertainty that coronavirus has caused, has impacted our ability to gather the industry at the end of the month.”

Statement is:”Due to ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19), DATAVERSITY has decided to postpone the 2020 Enterprise Data World Conference, due to take place in San Diego, California, on March 22-27, 2020.”

Statement is:”The Developer Summit will be a virtual event and not a live, in-person conference due to the continuously evolving circumstances surrounding the coronavirus.”

The statement: “In an abundance of caution for our customers, partners, and employees, we have made the tough decision to cancel our in-person event for Agility 2020 due to the escalating travel and safety concerns related to the global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. While we are disappointed to miss sharing ideas and solving problems with customers and partners from around the globe in person, we believe this is the best decision for everyone’s welfare.
We are rapidly developing an alternative to Agility as a virtual experience in the near term to deliver valuable lab, break-out session, certification, and keynote content to our customers and partners.”

The statement: “In light of the growing concerns around COVID-19, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person component of F8 this year, in order to prioritize the health and safety of our developer partners, employees and everyone who helps put F8 on. We plan to replace the in-person F8 event with locally hosted events, videos and live-streamed content.”

The statement: “Our priority is the health and safety of our teams, so out of an abundance of caution, we cancelled our Global Marketing Summit due to evolving public health risks related to coronavirus,” said a Facebook spokesperson in a statement to The Verge.

Statement is: “Due to the rapidly evolving situation related to coronavirus (COVID-19), we have taken the decision to postpone Future Vision. This is disappointing but we have not taken this decision lightly – the well-being of our members, clients, partners and staff is paramount. The annual DTG Summit will now be taking place on Monday 5th October 2020 instead. All arrangements and tickets are being transferred to the new date.”

The statement: “As so many game developers embrace remote working arrangements and online collaboration, we’re inspired to adapt and deliver GDC in a digital format that will be available to everyone with an internet connection, and will work hard to deliver the high-quality content and networking opportunities GDC attendees have come to expect.”

Statement is: ” The nationwide ban on major events until 31 August, which was announced on 15 April 2020 by the federal government and the federal states, has direct consequences for the staging of gamescom 2020 at the Cologne Exhibition Centre. It is therefore clear that this year there will be no business area or entertainment area in the previous format on site. However, this does not change the fact that gamescom will definitely take place digitally.”

The statement:  “Due to ongoing concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19), Gartner has decided to postpone the Data & Analytics Summit, scheduled to take place in Grapevine, March 23 – 26, 2020. We will be communicating new dates shortly.”

The statement:  “We regret this situation, but the health of all participants is our and our exhibitors’ top priority,”

The statement:  ““Due to the growing concern around the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in alignment with the best practices laid out by the CDC, WHO and other relevant entities, Google Cloud has decided to reimagine Google Cloud Next ’20.”

 

Statement is:”Due to concerns around the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in accordance with health guidance from the CDC, WHO, and other health authorities, we have decided to cancel the physical Google I/O event at Shoreline Amphitheatre.”

The statement: “We can confirm that one employee from our Zurich office has been diagnosed with the coronavirus,” a Google spokesperson confirmed to CNBC. “They were in the Zurich office for a limited time, before they had any symptoms. We have taken — and will continue to take — all necessary precautionary measures, following the advice of public health officials, as we prioritize everyone’s health and safety.”

The statement:  “We made the decision to reschedule our Singapore event in late February, nearly 60 days before its scheduled date.  We were closely monitoring the developments of the virus and realized the upward trend of this situation was not slowing in the APAC geo. Rather than put our attendees, sponsors and staff at risk, we made the decision to re-schedule the event to early Spring 2021.”

Statement is:”The health of IBM’s clients, employees and partners is our primary concern. In light of global precautions for the COVID-19 Coronavirus, and building upon recommendations from the World Health Organization, IBM is taking a new approach to its signature events. “IBM Think 2020,” the company’s premier client and developer conference, and PartnerWorld for our Business Partners, will be recreated as a global, digital-first event, to still be held on May 5-7.

The statement: “We have made this choice out of an abundance of caution and believe it is the correct decision given the evolving public health concerns in the Bay Area,” IDC said in a statement about cancelling the Directions event. “The potential risk to the well-being of Directions attendees and our staff is something IDC takes seriously.”

Statement is: “Due to the prohibition of major events with more than 5,000 participants announced by the State of Berlin on April 21, 2020 until October 24, 2020, IFA 2020, the world’s most important trade fair for consumer electronics and home appliances, cannot take place as usual. The organizers of IFA, gfu and Messe Berlin, are currently discussing the necessary steps and finalizing an alternative concept for IFA 2020 that is already being developed and will build on the strengths of IFA as the leading trade fair and leading innovation platform. Further details on the updated planning will be presented shortly.”

Statement is: “On March 9, the County of Santa Clara issued an order to cancel gatherings over 1,000 attendees up until April 1, 2020. On March 10, the local state of emergency was extended to April 9, but the order on cancelling large gatherings remains at April 1. Despite IoT World occurring after the timeframe of the current order, the situation around COVID-19 is evolving rapidly as are your corporate travel considerations. After close consultation with our partners in the IoT community, and as part of our Managed Postponement Program we have made the difficult decision to postpone Internet of Things World and rescheduled for August 10 – 13, 2020.”

Statement is: Intel has postponed Intel Labs Day, an event meant to highlight its latest research.

Statement is:”

Due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak and the risks associated with international travel, we realized it won’t be “a real SAS” if we can’t share hugs, handshakes and beer glasses. We will do it properly when the time is right and everyone feels safe and comfortable. We will do #TheSAS2020 in the fall this year, in the September-November time frame. We have no information on actual dates or places.”

Statement is: “Over the past few weeks, we have been monitoring the developments related to Covid-19 (the novel coronavirus). As a precautionary measure to protect the health and safety of the citizens and guests in the Kingdom of Bahrain, we would like to inform you about the postponement of MENOG 20, which was planned to take place from15 until 19 March in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.”

The statement: “Since the first edition of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2006, the GSMA has convened the industry, governments, ministers, policymakers, operators and industry leaders across the broader ecosystem. With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today, the GSMA has cancelled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event. The Host City Parties respect and understand this decision.
The GSMA and the Host City Parties will continue to be working in unison and supporting each other for MWC Barcelona 2021 and future editions.”

Statement is: “The safety of our community is a top priority. In light of the health safety recommendations for Washington State, we will deliver our annual Microsoft Build event for developers as a digital event, in lieu of an in-person event.”

Statement is: ” “Microsoft Ignite will be launched as a digital event experience this September. Join us to learn innovative ways to build solutions, migrate and manage your infrastructure, and connect with Microsoft experts and other technology professionals from around the globe.”

Statement is: “The safety of our community is a top priority. In light of health safety recommendations from public health authorities, we will not be holding Microsoft Inspire 2020 as an in-person event…We are exploring alternative ways to bring our partner community together to connect and learn. Stay tuned for more details to come.”

The statement: “The health and safety of our Microsoft MVPs and Regional Directors (RDs), as well as our partners, suppliers and employees is our top priority. In light of recent developments globally and the growing concerns around the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Microsoft has made the decision that this year’s MVP/ Regional Director Summit will be an online-only / virtual event. It will be scheduled for the same week (Mar 16-19). We will share additional information with you very soon and appreciate your patience as we work through the changes. For the time being, we would like to address a few questions you might have concerning this change.”

Statement is: Due to the rapidly evolving situation within the Seattle area and Washington state, we have decided to turn WSLConf into a virtual event, with the welfare of all attendees, speakers and employees being our primary concern. 

Statement is: “After much consideration in conjunction with our venue and city partners, MomoCon 2020 will be cancelled, with MomoCon returning bigger and better than ever in 2021 (May 27-30th, 2021).”

Statement is: “For the safety, health, and wellbeing of our members, speakers, and sponsors, we are rescheduling MSPWorld for later in 2020, most likely in June. Our intention is to hold the same conference, with the same speakers, and the same sponsors. Nothing will change…other than the date. 

Statement is:”NAB has been monitoring the evolving situation on coronavirus both in the U.S. and around the globe. Due to the public health emergency we are currently facing, we believe that it is not possible to move forward with NAB Show as planned. Please see below for a message from NAB’s president and CEO Gordon H. Smith, along with some FAQs about the decision.”

Statement is:”The consensus on proceeding with 20NTC has shifted today in light of the World Health Organization declaring the coronavirus a pandemic. Organizations that hadn’t implemented a travel ban have now announced one. Given this development, it feels the responsible action to take is to cancel 20NTC.”

The statement: “As the coronavirus situation is not improving, we’re turning GTC San Jose into a digital conference rather than a live event. Jensen will still give a keynote. We will still share our announcements. And we’ll work to ensure our speakers can share their talks. But we’ll do this all online.”

Statement is: “The Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP) has canceled the OCP Global Summit scheduled for March 4 – 5, 2020 in San Jose, California due to the risk of spread and impact of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus. Director of Marketing and Events Dirk Van Slyke made the announcement via a blog posted below.”

Statement is: “After significant consideration and in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the difficult decision was made to cancel the 2020 Offshore Technology Conference.”

Statement is: Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of the Oktane community, which is why we’ve decided to host Oktane as a virtual conference this year: Oktane Live.

Due to increasing concerns about the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, and to help protect the health and safety of our customers, employees, partners, and everyone who helps host the event, Oracle is postponing the in-person component of our upcoming Oracle Modern Business Experience conference.

Oracle MBX keynotes will be broadcast in a free live event on March 24 starting at 8:00 a.m. PT/11:00 a.m. ET. Registrants of Oracle MBX will automatically receive a pass to Oracle OpenWorld Las Vegas 2020. Those who cannot attend in Las Vegas will be offered a full refund.”

The statement: “At Paris Blockchain Week Summit, we pride ourselves on being a truly global event, with thousands of industry leaders, journalists and innovators in the blockchain space coming together to further the development of blockchain technology.   Over the past weeks, we have been closely monitoring global developments around the Coronavirus outbreak. The security and safety of our attendees, speakers and sponsors will always be our top priority. In addition, the recent guidelines issued by the French government which prohibit large gatherings put the status of the event at risk. With this in mind, we now feel that postponing the summit is the best and safest option.  Paris Blockchain Week Summit will now take place on 9-10 December 2020.”

Statement is: “After careful evaluation of currently available information, including guidance and directives from the CDC, health and medical experts, and federal and local governmental agencies, we have taken the decision to reschedule POWERUp 2020. The conference in Atlanta will not go forward as scheduled and has been re-scheduled to the dates of August 31 – September 3, 2020 in Tampa, Florida.”

All guests who have purchased tickets will receive a full refund of registration fees. Hotel rooms booked through our conference website will be canceled free of charge. Over the course of the coming weeks, we will explore other ways to engage the community.”

The statement:  “This evening Santa Clara County issued a statement recommending large community events no longer proceed:  “At this time, we recommend postponing or canceling mass gatherings and large community events where large numbers of people are within arm’s length of one another.” Following that and guidance from the CDC, and the growing escalation of the Covid-19 outbreak around the world and in the United States, SaaStr Annual must now be rescheduled and merged with our existing fall event into a new, less formal “SaaStr Bi-Annual” to take place in September 2020.
The event will replace our already planned fall event, SaaStr Scale, and we will increase the size and capacity of Scale to accommodate all attendees and sponsors.”

We ask that you contact the Hilton San Francisco Union Square to cancel your hotel rooms at (866) 238-4218 or online. Work with your flight provider to cancel your flights, details about providers issuing refunds.”

The statement: ““We were excited to host a virtual Shopify Unite this year,” said Shopify. “However, the last two weeks have caused us to re-evaluate. We have decided to cancel Unite to focus on the health of our employees and work closely with our merchants to help them through these challenging times.”

Statement is: “Miika Huttunen, chief executive of Slush, said it was the “only responsible course of action” because they could not guarantee the safety of everyone involved and wanted to behave responsibly towards their partners and vendors.” 

Statement is: “The April 2nd event for Snapchat developers, advertisers, and creators had already been moved to an online-only presentation amid coronavirus fears, but now the event has been postponed altogether.”

“Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19, we’ve decided to postpone O’Reilly Strata Data & AI 2020 in San Jose. We’ve been working to keep the event moving forward over the course of the last few weeks because we’re excited about convening the data science and AI communities in such a unique new way. But an abundance of caution and our belief in putting people first has shifted our resolve. “

The statement:  “The City of Austin has cancelled the March dates for SXSW and SXSW EDU. SXSW will faithfully follow the City’s directions. We are devastated to share this news with you. “The show must go on” is in our DNA, and this is the first time in 34 years that the March event will not take place. We are now working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation.  We are exploring options to reschedule the event and are working to provide a virtual SXSW online experience as soon as possible for 2020 participants, starting with SXSW EDU. For our registrants, clients, and participants we will be in touch as soon as possible and will publish an FAQ.”

Statement is:”The health and safety of our attendees is our top priority. In light of the global spread of the COVID-19 virus, TED2020 will now take place July 26-30 (previously April). If you’re already registered and haven’t heard from us about this date change, please contact us.”

Statement is: TNW today announces that the 2020 edition of their flagship event will be rescheduled to October 1 & 2, 2020.  Due to growing concerns over the coronavirus (COVID-19), and with the well-being of attendees, partners and staff as the number one priority, TNW has decided that rescheduling the event is the only responsible course of action at this time. 

The statement:  “In light of growing concerns around COVID-19, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel TPM20 this year.”

 

The statement: “The wellbeing of our employees and communities is our top priority, and out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to make our global sales kickoff a virtual experience to ensure we rally our team in the safest way possible,” Workday spokesperson Jeff Shadid confirmed in a statement to CNBC.

Statement is: ““We are delivering WWDC 2020 this June in an innovative way to millions of developers around the world, bringing the entire developer community together with a new experience,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.”

Statement is: “Zendesk has been evaluating the rapid evolution of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation in the last 24 hours as new information becomes available. After careful consideration, we have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel Relate 2020, which was scheduled March 3-5. We are currently working on the best way to bring you all the great content planned for Relate and will update you with that plan shortly. We will also refund the cost of Relate tickets.”
